Adult Bible Fellowship Classes
July - September
9:30 - 10:30 a.m.
You are What You Love - Bobby Locklear (Room 5) You are what you love, but you might not love what you think. This class aims to discuss how Christian discipleship changes us at the level of desire, through the spiritual power of habit. This will help us to see not only how we can shape our culture, but how our culture is shaping us.
Context is King - Dwight Ball (Library) Think how easy it is to inadvertently misinterpret people’s intentions or instructions because we assume too much or simply know nothing about the context of a situation. This can lead to errors, mistakes and even serious consequences. Context also matters in scripture, lest we misinterpret God’s Word, or miss depths of emotion or insight that show God’s love for us and desire that we know Him. Led by Dwight Ball in the Library. (This class will take place during the month of July only.)
11:00 am - 12:00 p.m.
Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles - (Library) Nathan and Christine Carmichael will be presenting principles from Paul Tripps’ book “Parenting: The 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family” The material is not a “how-to" or method-based book on parenting but a valuable resource that explores biblical principles that inform our parenting. Subjects covered include: calling, grace, law, identity, authority, foolishness, control, rest and mercy among others.
Colossians - Brian Wheeler (Room 3) The church at Colossae was under attack from false teachers who were impugning the deity of Jesus by teaching that He was not actually God. The apostles knew that the nature of Jesus Christ as Creator and Redeemer was nonnegotiable, so Paul wrote to the Colossians so they would know God in His greatness and glory, rather than in the deficient view they were hearing. This important New Testament letter is as important to us today as when it was written.
